At the Bačvice Open-Air Cinema, the crew of the film "El Shatt – A Blueprint for Utopia", which had its world premiere at the 16th Mediterranean Film Festival Split, was greeted with a standing ovation last night.
Ružica Poljaković and Ivna Marinović Poparić, who took part in this documentary and participants of the flight to Egypt, where they escaped together with another 28 thousand Dalmatians from the horrors of World War II, were especially warmly welcomed. Considering the sold-out premiere and great interest in the film by director Ivan Ramljak, there will be a new screening of the film on Monday, 26 June at 9:30 p.m. at the Bačvice Open-Air Cinema. Tickets can be purchased ONLINE or at FMFS ticket offices.
On the penultimate day of the festival, we have another Croatian premiere of a Spanish hit film at Bačvice. It is "Prison 77" by Alberto Rodriguez, whom the FMFS audience remembers for the cult film "Marshland", after whose screening, due to the huge interest of the audience, we introduced the "on the wall" tickets category. The film is based on a true event, had its world premiere at the San Sebastian festival, and won five Goya awards. In the main roles belong to the legendary Javier Gutierrez ("Marshland", "Truman", "Campiones") and the young star Miguel Herran, known for his role in the series "Money Heist".
It will be screened after the last Croatian short film from the competition programme Ješke, "Dancing on the Grave", directed by Ana Šiškov.
"The Other Side of the Mediterranean" programme is starting today at FMFS, focusing on the cinematography of South American countries. "The Kings of the World" film from Colombia, which you should not miss, is shown at the Gripe Fortress at 9:30 p.m. It is a visually impressive winner of the San Sebastian Film Festival with an excellent cast of teenagers.
The Brazilian "Charcoal" is shown at the Zlatna vrata Cinematheque at 7 p.m., and follows the story of a family that barely makes ends meet, until one day they receive an offer of a large sum of money to temporarily shelter a drug lord who urgently needs a hiding place.
The fourth, free FMFS cinema hosts the Zagreb Film Festival. They are coming to the plateau of the Youth Center with a selection of short films from the competitive international programme and the Checkers programme 2022.
