The Anti-fascist Resistance Day at the 16th Mediterranean Film Festival Split will be marked by the world premiere of the film "El Shatt – A Blueprint for Utopia".
This documentary directed by Ivan Ramljak gives us stunning footage and the story of 28 thousand Dalmatians who Tito, with the help of the Allies, evacuated to Egypt, and in tents in the middle of the desert simulated a kind of communist settlement model that was supposed to show the West what the new Yugoslavia would look like when World War II was done.
- After almost five years of work, which included, among other things, two years of research, interviewing a large number of 90-year-olds in the midst of the worst pandemic, and traveling to two additional continents, I am extremely glad that the time has come for the premiere of the film. FMFS is the most appropriate place for that, given its theme, in the heart of Dalmatia, and on the Anti-fascist Resistance Day - said director Ivan Ramljak announcing today's screening.
The premiere screening is already sold out, and tickets for the "zidić", i.e. sitting on pallets or deckchairs, will be sold at the Bačvice Open-Air Cinema box office from 9:30 p.m.
Before this premiere, the people of Split will be the first in Croatia to see the short film "Ingresso Animali Vivi" directed by Igor Grubić. The film had begun its trip around the festivals from Rotterdam.
