The crew of the film "Vera", which had won the award for best director and female role in the Orizzonti programme at the Venice Film Festival, arrives to Split for the Croatian premiere at the 16th FMFS.
After the 9:30 p.m. screening, at the cinema located within the Gripe Fortress, lead actress Vera Gemma and the directors Tizza Covi and Rainer Frimmel will talk to the audience about the film which offers a realistic view of a lonely woman who yearns for true acceptance. It was filmed as a hybrid between a feature and a documentary film.
Vera Gemma lives in the shadow of her famous father, the spaghetti western star Giuliano Gemma, and tonight's screening at FMFS is the only opportunity to see this great film because Croatia has no distributor for this feature. You can still buy tickets ONLINE
The Saturday of the festival starts at 7 p.m. at the Zlatna vrata Cinematheque with the premiere of the French court thriller “And Yet We Were All Blind”, directed by Béatrice Pollet, which deals with the intriguing topic of pregnancy negated, as a result of which a pregnant woman does not even experience physical changes in her body.
At Bačvice, we will be watching “One Fine Morning”, which had won the Label Europa Cinemas award in Cannes. The title role is played by the brilliant Léa Seydoux, and the French director is the Mia Hansen-Løve. Before the film of the evening, the Split audience will be the first to watch the short film "Unleashed" by Krešimir Štulina, which is a competitor in the Ješke programme.
The fourth FMFS cinema is also opening tonight on the plateau in front of the Youth Centre, where admission is free throughout the duration of the festival. Olhares do Mediterrâneo, the film festival from Lisbon, is hosting its program today.
